How scams that copy trains, buses, coaches and ferries work
Be wary of calls about refunds, compensation or a problem with a ticket or booking that ask for card details or a payment. Check through the operator’s own website or app.
Ofcom says scammers can fake the number that appears on your phone, which is called spoofing, and that they imitate UK numbers to look like a trusted person or organisation. Knowing details about you does not make a caller genuine.

Criminals can make their number look like a genuine one (this is called spoofing). If someone calls from this number and asks for money, bank details, a code or passwords, hang up.
