This could still be a scam call

Criminals can make their number look like a genuine one (this is called spoofing). If someone calls from this number and asks for money, bank details, a code or passwords, hang up. Then call Coventry Building Society back on the number on the back of your card, or call 159, which connects you to your bank.

What the provider and number type mean

Numbers starting 01 and 02 are geographic numbers. The first digits are the area code, which is linked to a place in the UK. Ofcom allows some numbers to be used outside their area, so the person or business may be somewhere else. 024 is the area code for Coventry.

Ofcom allocates phone numbers to communications providers in blocks. The provider shown is the one Ofcom allocated this block to. It is not the person or business that called you, and the number may since have moved to a different network, because people can usually keep their number when they switch provider. Ofcom does not hold information about individual numbers.

Calls to 01 and 02 numbers are usually included in landline and mobile call allowances. Outside an allowance, the price depends on your provider and tariff, so check with your provider.
