This could still be a scam call
Scammers use phone spoofing, which falsifies caller ID so that a call can appear to come from a trusted government department when it does not. Banks and the police will never call you to verify your PIN, and will not ask you to withdraw money or buy or send items for an investigation. If you get a call like this, hang up. HMRC will never ask you to pay with gift or payment vouchers, and will never threaten arrest or leave a voicemail threatening legal action. If you are not sure a call was genuine, hang up and contact the organisation on a number you have found yourself, such as on GOV.UK or a letter from it. Do not use a number the caller gives you.
This is a number the organisation publishes for people to contact it. Government departments, police forces and courts often call out from other numbers or with the number withheld, and scammers can make a call show a real number, so a call from it is not proof of who called.

See the 020 7271 xxxx range for the Ofcom facts about the whole block and any numbers in it that organisations or visitors have told us about.
Numbers starting 01 and 02 are geographic numbers. The first digits are the area code, which is linked to a place in the UK. Ofcom allows some numbers to be used outside their area, so the person or business may be somewhere else. 020 is the area code for London.
Ofcom allocates phone numbers to communications providers in blocks. The provider shown is the one Ofcom allocated this block to. It is not the person or business that called you, and the number may since have moved to a different network, because people can usually keep their number when they switch provider. Ofcom does not hold information about individual numbers.
Calls to 01 and 02 numbers are usually included in landline and mobile call allowances. Outside an allowance, the price depends on your provider and tariff, so check with your provider.
Reporting helps networks and the police find the people behind scam calls. Blocking stops this one number, though scammers often switch numbers.
Copy 020 7271 2443 from your recent calls and send it in a text to 7726. For a scam text, forward the text itself to 7726. Both are free. Some networks ask you to text CALL first and then reply with the number.

Register free online or on 0345 070 0707. Ofcom says it can take up to 28 days to work, and it will not block scam calls.
In the Phone app, open the contact and tap Block Contact. In Settings, then Apps, then Phone, you can screen or silence unknown callers and turn on spam filtering.
Open the Phone app, tap More, then Call history. Tap a call from the number and choose Block/report spam. Samsung and some other makers use their own phone app with different wording.
Ofcom says many landline providers offer call blocking or filtering, including anonymous call rejection for withheld numbers. Some charge for it, so ask yours. Call-blocking handsets can block withheld numbers or numbers not in your contacts.
