Police Impersonation Scams in the UK
Callers claiming to be police officers from the Metropolitan Police, HMRC, Border Force or Action Fraud, saying your bank account or identity is being used for fraud and demanding you withdraw cash or transfer money.
How to protect yourself
The police will never ask you to transfer money or withdraw cash. Hang up and call 101 (or 999 if in immediate danger) to verify. No legitimate authority will ask you to keep the call secret.
